Avril Lavigne’s latest platinum selling single, “Here’s To Never Growing Up” from her upcoming September 2013 album release is charting on Hot A/C and CHR radio formats. A global sensation, at age 17, she released her debut album, Let Go, which peaked at #1 in Canada, Australia and the U.K. and reached #2 in the U.S. on the Nielsen Soundscan album sales charts. The first single “Complicated,” peaked at #1 in Canada and Australia, #2 in the U.S. and #3 in the U.K. Subsequent singles “Sk8er Boi” and “I’m With You” peaked at #1 at CHR radio in Canada and reached the Top 10 in the U.S. and U.K. “Let Go” received Diamond Sales Certificate status from CRIA and has sold over 16 million copies worldwide. Lavigne’s subsequent albums Under My Skin, and The Best Damn Thing, have globally sold over 10 million and 6 million copies, respectively.
Award-winning multiplatinum superstar Robin Thicke brings the summer’s hottest anthem, “Blurred Lines” to KiSS 92.5 WHAM BAM 2013. It’s been the top selling song in Canada for five weeks and the album of the same name will be released on July 30. Establishing himself as one of the most respected singer-songwriters in soul and R&B music today, Thicke has released several albums including most recent, For the Rest of My Life. His roster of singles include “Lost Without U,” “Dreamworld,” “Magic,” “The Sweetest Love,” “Sex Therapy,” and “Love After War.” Billboard exclaimed, “Thicke has consistently shown himself to be one of R&B’s most devoted ladies’ men.”
Nova Scotia native Luke Boyd has been rapping and producing for years under the “Classified” handle, and his hard work continues to pay off, with his 2013 Juno Award win for ‘Rap Recording of the Year’ for “Inner Ninja,” and signing a deal with Atlantic Records in the U.S.
Singer/dancer/songwriter/producer Shawn Desman continues his award-filled career with his latest album Alive featuring the hits “Nobody Does It Like You” and “Dum Da Dum.”
Nikki Williams has emerged as a sultry new voice on the pop-rock scene, securing collaborations with a string of Grammy-winning hitmakers including Sandy Vee, Dallas Austin, and Rodney Jerkins. Williams recently scored her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 last week as writer on Demi Lovato’s, “Heart Attack,” and is making waves with her chart-topping hit, “Glowing.”
Launched in 2000, KiSS 92.5’s WHAM BAM summer concert has featured some of the biggest artists of the day including: Usher, Destiny’s Child, P. Diddy, Jay Z, and 50 Cent. Last year’s concert featured headliner Carly Rae Jepsen, with the summer’s hottest song, “Call Me Maybe,” and for 2013 Robin Thicke brings this season’s anthem, “Blurred Lines.”
Originally held at Kingswood Music Theatre, WHAM BAM later transformed into a stadium show at Rogers Centre and in 2003, found a permanent home at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre where the sold-out venue was rocked by Jay Z and 50 Cent. In 2010, KiSS 92.5 and Live Nation teamed up to bring back the WHAM BAM concert experience with Adam Lambert, Kardinal Offishall, Orianthi, Karl Wolf, Danny Fernandes, Fefe Dobson, Spose, and Aleesia, and continued the tradition in 2011 with Ke$ha, LMFAO, Spank Rock, and Akon.
In 2012, for the first time in WHAM BAM history, KiSS 92.5 delivered the ultimate fan experience with live multiplatform coverage of red carpet arrivals, candid backstage moments, and one-on-one interviews with performers including: The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen, Owl City, B.o.B, Conor Maynard, and Cher Lloyd.
